Social Nets.

Social nets are a very common way of communication nowadays. Social nets are very popular among people all ages. There are millions of them and there's a wide variety. But, as all things related to Inthernet it has its advantatges and disadvantatges.

Some of the multiple advantatges os social nets is that it's a way to meet new people, to join with friends you haven't seen for a while, or just live far away from you. It's a way to communicate and socialize with people all around the world and to show your personality to people, uploading photos, videos and writings you like and letting your friends give their opinion.

Athough it has many good things it also has many other bad things. The main disadvantatge is that Inthernet in some way is dangerous. It's dangerous because it doesn't have all the privacy it should have and in the case of social nets even more. In a social net you upload photos, videos and people can see you and meet you, and that's why it could be considered dangerous. The majority of people who are part of a social net such as: Facebook, Tuenti, Twitter, MySpace and many more, don't have any type of problems with his or her privacy in their personal net, but it's true there's another part, that is a minority, that have had many problems, like people stealing their photos to modificate them and upload them in another page, or things like that.

In my opinion, social nets are very useful and have many positive things, as a matter of fact, I belong to a social net; Tuenti, and I really like but I also think you have to be careful with things you upload, and first of all, you have to be conscious when you manage with Inthernet, and know there's a posibility of risk.

Israel currently has peace treaties in force with Egypt and Jordan to ensure their peaceful coexistence.

History

The State of Israel was proclaimed on the 14th of May, 1948, in accordance with international legality and the partition plan of the UN (1947) dividing the Spanish protectorate in Palestine, Jordan and Israel today,, with 77% of the territory to the Arabs (establishing the kingdom of Jordan that included the current territories of Palestine) and 23% for Jews leaving Jerusalem International Zone. The Jews accepted, but the Arabs no.

Less than 24 hours later, the regular armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq invaded it, forcing Israel to defend their country. In what became known as the War of Independence of Israel. Israel not only won the war, but others extended their territory of 8,000 km2 to 21,000 km2 in a legitimate war of self-defense against the Arabs.

My opinion

The nation of Israel has a powerful historical reasons, political, moral and religious, to own their small land in peace. However, in nations such as Spain the ways of comunication, have mediatised people with the idea of that the Jews invaded one day a country called Palestine where they lived the Palestinians and that currently the only cause of the conflict in this land are the Jews, usually presenting the conflict from only the Palestinian side.

El Internado

"El internado" is a television serie produced by Globomedia for the spañish channel "Antena 3"

The premiere was on the 24th of May of 2007 on prime time.

Argument

El Internado ('Boarding School') is a Spanish television drama thriller focusing on the students of a fictional boarding school in a forest, where teenagers are sent by their parents to study. The boarding school is situated in a forest far from the city, on the outskirts on which macabre events occur.

Audience

For Antena 3 this has been its best fiction serie since the past 3 years, always overcoming at least 3 millions of espectators, sometimes reaching 4 millions. It's the best serie that the channel "Antena 3" has at this moment.

My personal opinion

I've been watching this serie since its first premiere and I like it very much but as the time passes the episodes become more boring because they don't resolve any of the millions of misteries that occur in the school.

William Ockham

William of Ockham was an English philosopher also called William Ockham, or Doctor Invincibilis (“Invincible Doctor”)

He was born in Ockham, a small village in Surrey, near East Horsley, and he estudied in two importants universities: Merton school, Oxford, and also he had John Duns Scotus ( he was one of the most important theologians and philosophers of the High Middle Ages) of teacher.

Gustav Klimt was born on 1862 in Vienna, Austria.
Klimt's work is diferenced by the elegant gold or coloured decoration. This can be seen in Judith I (1901), and in The Kiss (1907–1908), and especially in Danaë (1907).

In 1897 Gustav Klimt founded with other artists the Vienna Secession and became its first president. By that time Klimt had developed his own and characteristic style. Like impressionism, art nouveau was an International revolt against the traditional academic art style.

Gustav Klimt's style is highly ornamental. The Art Nouveau movement favored organic lines and contours. Klimt used a lot of gold and silver colors in his art work - certainly an heritage from his father's profession as a gold and silver engraver.

WITTMUND

On 14th of May, we travelled
to Germany to participate in the committee Europe. Every
year students from different nationalities gather around in
one country, in this case Germany, to spend some days in
family, making cooperating activities and taking advantage from
English.
We went by plane from Valencia to Dusseldorf and then we
took several trains until we arrived to Wittmund,where the families picked us up.
The next three days we spent them with our families and at
school doing workshops like: soccer, cooking, fashion and
dance. The last day, on Saturday, we made a parade
through all the town with the flags of the different countries.
Sunday morning we said goodbye to our families, we took a
train and we went to Cologne where we stayed one night
in a hostel in the city centre. There we visited several things
like the cathedral and the chocolate factory.
We had a great time, some of us have been very good with
our families (some not) and we have met lots of people
from the different schools.

Easter 08

This easter has been a little bit more boring than Fallas. My Grandmother and my cousins came from Madrid to stay in my house for one week, so I couldn't stay out as much as I stayed in Fallas because I had to spend time with my family.

I also went out with my friends. The 21st of March was my birthday! I'm 14 years old already. We made a special lunch with all my family in a restaurant and on the afternoon I went out with my friends.

I had a lot of fun that day and I received lots of presents. Another special day was the 25th of March it was my dad's birthday and also Paula's (from ESO3) birthday.

So on the afternoon we made a surprise party for her and we had lots of fun.

The only boring thing is that the school was soon and I had to do my homework, so I spend part of my time doing homework.

Fallas 08

This vacations have been very good. I went out with my friends almost every days because my mum was on holiday and my father let me stay out late. I slept in Valeria's house several times and I had lots of fun.

I didn't throw lots of "petardos because I don't like them very much.

The most interesting day was on 19 of march, the last day of fallas.

I went with Valeria to the La Canyada's town and there we met with other people. We saw "la cremà" and then I slept in Valeria's house.

I've had lots of fun this year in Fallas but I hope that next year would be better.

There are many who believe that the traditional books are being phased out in favour of the computers. Perhaps in the future we'll read all our novels on a screen, perhaps not even moving our eyes to read. I am going to show you some opinions that are totally different.

"Norwegian Phoenix" will be debating on the side of computers.

"Justcallmeadam" will be debating on the side of books.

Side of computers:

Technologie that for only ten years ago seamed impossible is now an important part of the modern community. Comptuers are getting more and more advanced and it has now been built computers with 1000 gigabyte (one terabyte). An earlier problem with computers was their size and prize, they was to large and to expensive, but as time has gone they have shrinked both in size an prize. In the future we will proboly have computers with tons of terabytes, so small that you can put it in your pocket, which only cost you 5 dollars.Computers are not only more practical than books. Just think of all the trees that will be saved. Computers are the future and will be an important part in future community.

Side of books:

Computers and the Internet, both with their own great storage capacities, are threatning to "endanger" books and the written/printed word. For hundreds of years, people have sat down, read, and have been amazed by what they found in the pages of that book. Not only are books more convienent size-wise, but they're also less trouble to worry about. All this trouble is really unnecessary when you're only trying to connect to the Internet so you can read the lastest John Grisham book. I'll agree that the Internet can be helpful for most quick information but, many users find that when they enter a simple topic into a search engine they come up with 121,432,68 sites that have everything but what they were looking for. With a book, all you would need to do for that particular question is to go to the section of the library that has information and look up the answer to your question. To summarize, the Internet may be easier to access (if you're at home, that is), but sometimes it's either a bother to go to, or more frustrating than simply finding out the answer in a book.

MY OPINION

I think that technology and computers are great, they have made our lifes easiler in many ways. Internet is a world wide web plenty of information and I think is much more practical than searching for somethimg in books. But in other side I think that books are also entertainig and you can feel many things that you can't with computers.

People think that if you like reading books you can't have fun with computers, but it's not like that because there lots of people that love new technologies (like our english teacher Maria) and also read a lot!

XMAS

I spend christmas with my family and with my friends. First I go for a week to S.Sebastián, where my family lives and I spend christmas and new year there and then I turn back to Valencia for the magical kings.

The Christmas eve I have dinner with all my mum's family in my grandmother's house. The next day at Christmas we go to my Grandma's house to open the gifts from "Papa Noel" and then we go to eat with my dad's family, and there we have more gifts.

The best day of Xmas, for me was New years eve. First I had dinner at my aunt's house with my mum's family, and after the grapes I went to the centre with some friends and I had a lot of fun. And the next day, in new year we had lunch in my grandmother's house.

The last Saturday was the magical king's night, we had dinner in my house with friends of my parents and the next day we opened the gifts.

My friends

I have many friends but my best friends are my class friends. I know them since I was three years old. We are seven girls: Carla, Elisa, Marga, Carla, Valeria, Ana and me. They are very good friends, I enjoy a lot being with them.
I get very sad when I imagine that in two years we aren't going to be together any more. I have been with them all my life I we have been through many good and bad moments but we always support eachother. Although we live in different places we are always getting around. Even though we are seven I can only talk about some of them.

In school I have some other friends of different grades like susana, sofia and marina; three girls of ESO 3, they are very friendly. I laugh a lot with them because they are always making jokes. I like going with them because I have lots of fun and I also like to get around with other people.

Valeria: She is a very good friend of mine, she's always happy so I always feel good when you are with her. She's medium high and very thin. She has blonde straight hair and blue eyes. She's very funny and she has a very funny laugh so when she laughs everybody does. She's 13 years old as all of us. She was born in 1994. She lives in La Cañada. Her birthday is the 16th of june. I know her since I was three but I have only been a really good friend of her since only a few years because she had other friends in school. I love her.

She is a special person because she has a very strange character, because she changes humor very easily.
She is very funny and friendly with the people whom she likes to be.

Strange tales

I've read a book on summer that is called strange tales about Great Britain. It has lots of different stories. Some places or villages have become famous because strange things happened a long time ago and people from the village tell these stories like a legend.

I've really liked this book a lot, all the stories, but I think that the best story is,

The Loch Ness Monster so I'm going to write a little bit about it.

The Loch Ness Monster is the most famous monster in the world. The Loch Ness is in Scotland and its very famous for his monster, called Nessie by the Scotland people.

Some people believe there is a monster at the Loch (lake) but others don't.

The first time anyone saw the monster was in the year 565. Someone was walking around the lake and saw a man swimming in the water and an enormous monster behind him. Later, in 1827 and in 1930 there were people who saw the monster, but for the last time. Lots of groups of investigators have tried to locate him but they didn't find anything in the Loch.

My Enviroment

In my neighbourhood there are a lot of dogs, and I like it because I love dogs but one thing I can't stand is that when their owners take them out they don't pick up their poop so the street gets very ugly.

I think it's not that difficult to take bag, pick it up and throw it to the trash can.

I've lived in the united states for some time and there ANYONE leave their dog's poop in the streets, it's forbidden.

I think that here in Spain they could do the same and the streets would be cleaner.

The Diary of Anne Frank

This summer I’ve read this book because I heard that it was really good.
The Diary of Anne Frank is the story of a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family who are forced into hiding by the Nazis during World War II.
The book is based on the diary written by Anne Frank while she and her family plus four more jewish people were hiding for two years; from 1942 to 1944 in the Atic of her father’s office, in the city of Amsterdam.
In August 1944 they were sent to a concentration camp called Bergen-Belsen, which was one of the worse. Of the group of eight, only Otto Frank (his father) survived the war.
Her diary, was saved during the war by one of the family’s helpers, Miep Gies, and her father published the diary in 1947, to make her daughter’s dream come true; become a writer.
Today, her diary has been translated into 67 languages and is one of the most widely read books in the world.

My opinion: I really liked this book and I really enjoyed reading it because the way she write’s it makes your feel like you’re the one who’s there hiding and feeling that horrible pain for two years; but in another way, sometimes she gets so detailled with something so it gets a little boring.
I really recommend this book to anyone, I think it’s worth reading it.

...My SumMer HoliDayS...

This summer has been very cool; I’ve enjoyed it very much.
On July first I went to a french summer camp with Elisa. It lasted three weeks, I had a lot of because I met a lot of people from all spain, did many friends and I also a lot type of things. On July 21st the summer camp was finished!

My next trip was London. I had never been there. I went with my parents, brother and sister from the 22 of July to the second of August. We did a house exchange; we do it very often, the english people went to stay a few weeks in our house of valencia while we were at their house in London. It rained very much but I really liked it. I think London is a very beautifull city and it’s worth visiting it.
I saw: the big ben, the london eye, the parlament, london bridge, the british museum and many more things!
I also visited Cambridge, Stratford and Oxford. We stayed at London for ten days.

When I got back from London; at the second of August I went two weeks to San Sebastian, where my grandma lives. And then I got back here to get ready to school!

I think this trip has a lots of objectives that we have reached. The principal objective was to be more autonomous. Another one was to learn to manage ourselfs in a big city like Madrid. Also we have learned to travell by metre, bus train… and and at least myself, I think I have achieved it.

TRIP TO MADRID & TOLEDO

Last month we went five days to Madrid it was a fantastic trip, in fact I think one of the best trips I've ever done. We had a great time all thanks to Maria.G., Maria.S and Eva. I also liked very much the trip because usually we go to the mountain and this was something different. I'm going to tell what we did each day!!

First day (7th of May):

We started our trip!! We went from Valencia to Madrid by bus. It took us four hours aproximatly. We arrived to the hostel “Casa de Campo” which was very good. Then we left our packages and we went to see Madrid. First we saw the museum “Reina Sofia”, It was very good. Later, we saw the “Plaza Mayor” and we had dinner there. We got back by metre.

Second Day (8th of May):):

First, we saw the "Puerta del sol" and we walked a little bit around Madrid. At lunch we went to eat to the restaurant "Hylogi" and we ate very well!! the food was delicius!! Then we went to the museum Thyssen, I liked it but less than the "Reina Sofia".

Third Day (9th of May): ):

This day was a little crazy xD... We should have taken the train to Toledo at 10'45 but we arrived late, so we had to wait untill 12'00 to go. The trip was very exciting and fast!! we were in Toledo in 25 minutes!! when we arrived there it was very hot so we took a bus that left us in the centre. We walked for a while to see Toledo, we saw the "Sinagoga judía" then we had lunch, and the teachers left us some free time to buy things for our family and see Toledo. At 9'00 we took the train again to Madrid.

Fourth Day (10th of May): ):

This day we did a lot of things!! We went to the famous "Prado museum" I liked it but the security guards were very unfriendly with us, so Maria.G and Eva filled in a form to complain about it. Later we had lunch in the Prado's gardens. We had lots of fun that day. We had dinner at the hostel and we didn't sleep much!!

Last Day (11th of May): ):

Bye Madrid!! Today was the day to go back to Valencia!!, we had lunch at the bus and we were at school by 4'00.

It was an amazing trip, I will never forget it!!!

..THE FALLAS...!

The Fallas are enormous models made out of papier mache, wood and wax. The models are burnt on the night of 19 March in a festival of fire and fireworks. Fireworks and firecrackers play a big role in this fiesta.Be careful of firecrackers being thrown along the street by youngsters.

The Fallas are divided into seven important stages. The city is adorned in decorations and fallas. During the week the following ceremonies take place: the nomination and proclamation of the Fallas Queens (whose role will last all year), the Exaltation, the Crida, the Cavalcade of the Ninot, the Offering of Flowers, the Planta and the Cremá.

The Crema is when the models of the Fallas are burned. For some it is the saddest moment, while for others it is the highest point of the festival. The Fallas are lit on the night of St. Joseph, 19th March.

The last ones to be burnt are the fallas which have won prizes for the best ones. One "ninot" is saved each year, from the flames by popular vote, and exhibited in the Museum of the Ninot. When at about midnight Valencia goes up in flames as more than three hundred fires are burnt throughout the city, the spectacle is as awesome as it is unforgettable.

The sun gives us energy in light and heat. But like the earth is not able to absorb all that energy, a part goes to tha space.
Though, not all that radiation escapes through space, a part is absorbed by the greenhouse gases, that are at the atmosphere.
These gases are: carbon dioxide, methane and water steam.
This way the heat is well kept at the atmosphere and at the surface of earth.
This process is called "Green house effect" and lets earth keep an adecuate temperature for the development of life.
The greenhouse effect is important. Without the greenhouse effect, the Earth would not be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it could make the Earth warmer than usual. Even a little extra warming may cause problems for humans, plants, and animals.

Princess Mononoke
We have already finished watching the film of the princess mononoke with our english teacher Maria.We've seen it in original version: in Japonese with subtitles in spanish and because this year in my school we're working the saustenibility.
The princess Mononoke is a movie with Japanese animation from the director Hayao Miyazaki . "Mononoke" is not a name, it's a general term in Japanese for a spirit/god/monster of the natural world.
I think that in this film Hayao Miyazaki tries to give us a vision about the love to the nature, in which the humans and nature aren't in a constant fight.
The Story:The story of Princess Mononoke is about a young warrior called Ashitaka.He got a wound in a fight with a devil and he must look for a cure . Along the way he finds a town which is changing the environment. Industry and war threaten to overtake the natural forces of good. Ashitaka must try to end the conflict and cure his affliction before it's too late.

Bomb at Madrid's airport
A powerful car bomb exploded at the car park of Madrid's international airport of Barajas on 30th of December, leaving two people dead and at least 26 wounded. The terrorists were the Basque separatist group of ETA.The bomb contained between 18 to 20 kg of explosives.
It was Eta's first attack since the group declared a permanent cease fire in March,(9 months ago).

In the Jewish culture there is a thousand-year-old tradition not related to the Christian Christmas,that is celebrated in December and the children also receive gifts.
It is called Hanukah's festivity and evokes the rebuilding of Jerusalem's Temple that took place in 165 b.C.That's why it receives the name of the festivity, since Hanukah, in Hebrew means inauguration.
For years, in the Temple of Jerusalem, other polytheistic people from the Middle East installed pagan idols and stole part of its treasures.
It is in the year 165 b.C. when took place the expulsion of the population who was occupaying Jerusalem and the Jewish people recovered the Temple.
In that occasion, when the Jews wanted to light the chandelier of the Temple, they found only one pitcher of oil and according to their calculations it would last only one day. But a miracle took place and the oil of the chandelier lasted for eight days.That's why Hanuka's festivity begins the 25th of the Hebrew month of Kislev (December for the Christians).
For eight days that the celebration lasts, and after sunset, they dedicate a few minutes to the ceremony of lighting the candles. The chandelier that is used in this holiday has nine arms: one is in the middle, called Shamash (in Hebrew "servant"), and four to each side of the Shamash in the same position. The first day they light the shamash and with it another candle.The second day they light again the shamash and with it two candles.And this way successively up to completing eight candles in the eighth night.
The children are the big beneficiaries since it is a tradition for the parents to give coins(Hanuka's money) or other gifts,like games, songs and delicious recipes to the kids.

Christmas in Spain

Christmas is a very special time of the year.The streets are full of lights and the people walk aroung carrying their shopping bags.Christmas is an important family celebration in Spain.There are several special dates.The first one:Christmas Eve(24th of december) the night in which the whole family gathers around the table to have dinner and celebrate that Jesus was born.Nowadays some people in Spain give each other their presents on Christmas Day(25th of december) because Santa Claus leaves the presents on that night.

The next important date is the 5th of January when the "three wise men" come with gifts for spanish children.In many Spanish towns and villages the City Councils organise some interesting parades in order to impress the kids.These are expecting the presents from the "three wise men" and they find them when they wake up the next morning,on the 6th of January.

Unfortunately mistreatment to women is very common nowadays. It is also called "genre violence"
There are two types of mistreatment: physical and psychological: insults, humiliations, etc...
Ill-treated women are usually around 40 years old and 65 % of them are married or in the separation process.It is surprising the number of ill-treated women who are single(17 %). A high percentage (almost 70 %) does not have the primary studies or only the secondary school certificate. The majority of the women do not have a job so they are afraid to get separated.
Many women do not denounce their aggressors for fear that they kill them, but other women who denounce them are not sufficiently protected and the aggressors continue attacking their victims.In other cases they do not denounce because they have children and are afraid that they're going to be attacked by the aggressor.
The safety of the women threatened is based on the protection of the victims by keeping the aggressor far, but this is very difficult and many women die for not having the sufficient attention.

..My RouTinE..
I usually wake up at seven o'clock on weekdays but in the weekends I wake up later.
First I go to get dressed and after I have breakfast.
Normaly I go to school at 8:45 because it takes me only 10 minutes to get there.
When I finish school at 4:30 I wait untill my mum or dad comes for me.
I arrive to my house at 5:00 more or less.On monday and wednesday I have English after-school activity from 5:30 to 7:00.
Then I do my homework,I get a shower,I watch TV(if I have time) and I finally I go to bed....
and good night!!!
